Ecological Impact Assessment

Direct Ecology can provide an ecological impact assessment as a stand alone report, or as part of a wider Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) or Environmental Statement. Initial scoping of a site and desk study is usually undertaken. Consultation with statutory consultees (e.g. SNH) is usually recommended. This allows potential constraints to be identified at an early stage, and highlights the need for any further survey.

A site with low ecological interest may not require any further survey. Other sites will require a more detailed assessment and evaluation, along with prediction of impacts and mitigation proposals where required, in order to fulfil legislative requirements or in line with relevant best practice.

More specialist assessments can be undertaken, such as Appropriate Assessments for Natura 2000 Sites or bird collision modelling on wind farm sites. Reports are produced to a high standard with high quality digitised maps.
