Introduction to Bat Survey 15.05.2013 - http://www.cieem.net/events/416/introduction-to-bat-survey

This workshop will provide an introduction to bat legislation, ecology, survey and roost identification with examples of case studies including survey for different types of development (e.g. building, wind farm, roads, trees). Reference will be primarily made to the more common bat species – pipistrelles, brown long-eared and Daubenton’s bats. Advice on further reading and key references will be given. Different detectors including the Duet, Anabat and SM2 will be demonstrated. In addition, there will be the option to join a bat walk in Dunblane on the evening of the workshop where at least three species of bat can be expected and different detectors demonstrated.

Bat Impacts and Mitigation 16.05.2013 - http://www.cieem.net/events/418/bat-impacts-and-mitigation

This course will follow on from the previous day (an introduction to bat survey), but those with some knowledge of bat survey and assessment may wish just to attend this day.

The course will provide an overview of bat impact assessment and mitigation and consider various development types including roads, housing and wind farms. There will be examples of case studies and participants are encouraged to bring their own examples of bat mitigation (successful or not!) for discussion.

Reference will primarily be made to the more common bat species, including pipistrelles, brown long-eared and Daubenton’s bats.

Advice on further reading and key references will be given.

In the evening PRIOR to the workshop there will be the opportunity to attend a bat walk in Dunblane where at least three species of bat should be recorded (weather permitting!)

The new company address is: 4 Beech Court, Beech Road, Dunblane FK15 0LA. We will be moving from RFL House to Beech Road throughout January, but by 1st February we expect to be ready to welcome visitors.
